These were taken on a day out with some fellow BIBY members and the first time I have been given an opportunity to photograph them. I have observed them on and off for over 15yrs so it has been a long time coming.

Nice. I've yet to see one of these.

Brisbane southside.
These are great, Shane, well worth the slog through the long grass.
Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
looks like you were able to get fairly close
that is a male bird as the female has yellow eyes
Peter
Thanks everyone and Peter I didn't know about the female having yellow eyes so thanks for the info.
Regards
Shane
my pic of the pair was taken at Coraki, NSW in 3/11 - not as good as your pics but shows the 2 eye colours
my pic of the 2 juveniles was taken at Lismore Lake, NSW in 1/12 - I think that yours is also a juvenile because of the coloured feathers on the back where the adult is white
Peter
oops sorry pic #1 was not good, here's another
Peter
Great shots Shane they are a stunning looking bird. glad to hear that you finally fulfilled a dream in getting your shots.
There usually is a reward for patience, wish I learnt that lesson when I was younger.

Shane
Yes don't we all Shane but its a lesson we never learn when we are young and its a lesson we can never teach the young.

Adrienne I did crop these somewhat but i am not sure how much, so that is making things look closer.

Shane
Nice Clif, we have them here, where did you take these.
Thanks Tassie, these were taken in the backwaters of Lake MacDonald near Cooroy at a place called Jabiru Park. True!

Adrienne if she hangs around too long just go back and sit in your car for a few minutes and she generally will leave. If that doesn't work looks like you gotta leave because she drives you nuts. Hope you get some good ones of the WBSE, that would be nice.
Regards
Shane
Ahhh...you had to go there Shane..... I am still trying to foget the WBSE
I have seen a few here on the coast recently but like theh Brahminy, they can be unpredictable as to their times. I guess if you live near the river you would be able to work out the times they fish etc. Havent been out much lately anyway to see much..... must make the effort to get coastal again in the next few weeks sometime!
