There is some hair!?

Not a lot of hair on his head yet, more than two days ago though.

(sorry Kathie, you missed them on Friday, they were there today. Two mothers ,one little one each)

I find it amazing how much food is in those local lakes. This one is in the town centre of Berwick (Vic). You can also see how small the little coot is next to the Yabby claws.

Yes, I guess if there wasn't food in those lakes the birds wouldn't be there.

Araminta, that would be an interesting project: find out what natural & unnatural food exists in local lakes & find out what the local wildlife are eating. It's amazing the rubbish people put in our waterways: carp, trout, eels, bread, shopping trollies...the list goes on.

Any prawns eaten by Coots would probably be raw prawns. And a flying eel would be sight to see but, like you, I suspect someone put them in the lake, probably from a no-longer-wanted eel tank.
