Golden Whistler

Some friend were having a BBQ with us, when I jumped up, ran inside to get the camera, when I heard my husband say something like: don't worry, she does this a lot.

I had seen a Golden Whister in a tree. I have tried to get some good photos for a long time, and nothing was going to stop me.laugh

Here he is, not as good as I would like it to be, but trust me, .....one day......?

nice photo, pity it's not from a better angle

is it just me or is there a bit of noise in this photo?

I noticed it too Nathan, the bird was about 20m high up in one of our trees, not a lot I could do about it. ( like you, I do not work a lot on my photoswink, they are what they are.) I zoomed in and used the luminence curve a tiny bit, as it was dark up in that tree, I will try harder if I can, next time I see one. They hardly ever come down furthercrying

Interesting bird. Never seen.

That noise is not actually a big problem. Just download a trial version of Noiseware Community Edition. It' very easy to use.

Lovely shot M-L.  The closest I've seen of one.  I got one sometime last year but was a more distant shot. Like you, I'd like to get more closer shots too.  I've heard Neat Image is good for noise reduction too.

I have a lot of these delightful birds around, but they are usually quite high up.  It is hard to get a good photo like this.

Well Nathan, I'm not that sure about it. Your photo is a smaller size, make it the same to compare. I also think in yours there is less detail on the actual bird. (on the chest?). I know it's not the best photo. You know, I don't use manipulation much.

Sometimes I crop, mostly I try again.

Take today, I went to the WTP to find some waders, yes there were some, I took some photos, but most will be deleted. Not good enough. Could work on them, but rather make more of an effort next time. If it was a rare bird I would never be able to find again, yes, I might work on it, but if I can take a better photo next time, I will try.

Good work though Nathan.
