Not the best photo, but this is the first time I have seen one of these birds around here. Usually the only ducks I get are black ducks and wood ducks. This seems to be a pair of chestnut teals.

Just tell them to lay some eggs, and have lots of babies. The photo has a nice early morning feel to it. Around where I live you can find them on most lakes. Are they rare where you live?

I don't know if they're rare but I haven't noticed them before! I'll keep an eye out for them. Ducks are remarkably shy around my place; I think it's from years of being shot at :/
