Hi From Isis River

Hello to all,

I am so happy to have found somewhere to discuss and share all about birds. My name is Dianne, call me Di. I live on 170 acres in Isis River Queensland, just down the road from Childers.

We have a huge array of birds living on our farm with us and it has meant that i get a great chance to observe them which is the best time waster in the world. Many come to visit us on our big veranda, such a wonderful privilege. I have quite a few photos that I hope to share with the forum although I am far from being a good photographer, I do manage the occasional good shot.

I need to have a look around and a practice with uploading photos etc, but really looking forward to getting to know people with the same interests - birds!

Best Regards

Di smiley

Hi Di, and welcome to the forum. Your place sounds great, can't wait to see some photos . Like you, I love wasting time observing birds, a lot better than wasting time doing house workblush

Hey Di, lovely to meet you.  I've not thought it as a time-waster before, but I agree, I do spend a lot of time observing and photographing birds. Looking forward to see what you have to share with us!

Love your enthusiasm for birds, Di. Shots of their habitat on your farm would be great, too. Do you do  any bush/woodland/forest conservation/restoration on your farm?

Hi Woko, nice to meet you. I have added photos to the photo section and all are taken around our farm, it just so happens that the birds seem to consider our big veranda as part of their habitat!

We run two small herds of cattle but out of 170 acres approximately 70 acres  is virgin bushland and we will be keeping it that way. I haven't ever counted up the number of bird species here either resident or passing through regularly,   but will do that one day just as a matter of interest. My camera isn't very good so I just do my best with it. I am really looking forward to getting more shots around the farm though, everyone here inspires me. We have a dry creek bed, dams and bushland so all varieties of accommodation for birds can be found heresmiley below is a picture of a pair of black swans on one of our dams.

Superb, Di. You obviously have a variety of habitats, including your verandah, so it's little wonder you have such a wonderful diversity of birds (& other wildlife, too, I imagine). Can't wait to see & hear more.

Hi Wendy nice to hear from you. Our farm is far from perfect but I know how lucky I am to live in such a place. I have always been a city girl so it was a real change of pace for me and one I took to like, well.....a duck to water? smiley

I am compiling a list of all the species we have here on the farm and so far now I am up to 69 and counting.

I have never been to WA but would love to see what you have there.

cheers
