from an email:
We have now put in a rescission motion asking Penrith Council to rescind their approval, to reconsider this matter and to at the very least do their duty of care and visit the sites they are proposing to re-zone for development. We have asked them to consider protecting all of the State designated Priority Conservation Lands (PCL's) for conservation and protection - not for 5 acre development.
As many of you will know these PCL's were set aside by the State Government as offsets to the destructioin of over 1000 hectares of critically endangered habitat in the North and South Growth Centres a couple of years ago. So now we find that it means nothing at all and that in fact Councils can re-zone as they wish.
Quite bizarrely they can re-zone a critically endangered habitat without even visiting the sites or having any current environmental study done. In fact they can use desktop studies that were done years ago.
We are therefore also calling on the Penrith City Council to obtain an independent current environmental assessment of these PCL's. And a study where the qualified consultant actually visits the sites.
You can view an interesting photographic tour of these sites that was put together for those Councillors who don't have time to visit. See here on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LfdVzeNozcQ
The Council meeting is on Monday at 7pm. All those with the time and passion please attend and bring your hand made signs to show you care. Save our Bushland. Enough is Enough. Protect our wildlife. Are just some of my suggestions - I am sure you will have your own.
Signed - I wish your cause luck.

thanks Alison
Signed here too
Good luck!
Ditto.
I've signed. I may be in WA but they should know that their actions are under a far wider scrutiny than just their little corner of the world.

Thanks guys. I went on a tour of some of this bushland with the Western Area Conservation Alliance ( that's the group Woko told me about )There were various experts who spoke about birdlife, animals, and ecology at each place. There is a big Landcom development outside Penrith and when all the bulldozers came in the animals, kangaroos and wallabies, possums, gliders all fled and when they returned, found a fence between them and their habitat. They were slaughtered all over the M4 and Great Western hwys just because there was a 500 metre fence put up.
Ditto, but a bit late for the meeting. Still, hopefully councillors will get even a late message.
How did the meeting go Margaret?
Dear Sir/Madam
Development Application DA12/0897
Lot 11 DP 1176163, Lakeside Parade JORDAN SPRINGS NSW 2747

I refer to your submission in relation to the above Development Application. The issues raised in your submission were given careful consideration during the evaluation of the development application and the applicant was advised accordingly.
The applicant has agreed to amend the proposal and submitted a revised concept plan for the proposal. The revised concept plan has incorporated an extended perimeter road along the southern boundary.
The amended proposal was presented to Council‘s Ordinary Meeting on 10 December 2012 for consideration. Council resolved to grant Deferred Commencement to the proposed subdivision with appropriate conditions subject to the following:

(b) the applicant obtains a revised Bush Fire Safety Authority from NSW Rural Fire Service based on the revised layout

Hi Margaret. Does this mean there'll be destruction of this bushland by stealth? I always find it hard to get past the bureacracy blah in these matters. There's little doubt in my mind that's a deliberate strategy by councils & other authorities to discourage people from taking action. Don't ya love 'em?
