Hi :) My partner and I found ourselves at the park today where we saw these little guys:
Wood duck juveniles? They were small and dont have the whitey/grey backs I know of wood ducks.

Hi Tagidoll, they look like young female Wood Ducks to me.

Thank-you!
hmm...wonder where all the males went!
They could also be juvenile wood ducks.
I have wood ducks near my place in Gippsland but they are very shy, so it must be nice to get close to them like you have here. :-)

For some reason I can't get into my Flickr account, I have many photos of Wood Ducks at all ages, from 1 day to adults, trust me, they are wood Duck girls. As soon as I can, I will post them.

Here is one, might be a little bit younger and lighter in colour, the photo was taken on a very sunny day.

I have chosen this photo, ( although not very good), so you can see the difference between the male on the right, and the female on the left side of the picture. Your juvenile ducks look almost grown up.

It was a really nice experience, I'd been having bit of a bah, humbug sort of day and it certainly cheered me up!
All those pictures are really great! They were about 3/4 the size of any adult ducks there, so small but not tiny. Wow, thanks for all your help everyone!
I agree. Definitely Australian Wood Ducks (aka Maned Ducks). Lots of them around here.
