Home for a couple of wrens

A pair of "blue wrens" (superb fairy wrens) have bult a nest in a shrub just outside the door to my Gippsland shack.  I hope the comings and goings of my various visitors over the past and upcoming weeks don't disturb them too much.  So far there are no eggs in the nest.

That's a very attractive, if slightly damp looking, nest.  Here's hoping for several happy events.

Nice one, Soakes. No buidling permits required either.

Today I looked in the nest and there are 3 little white eggs in there!

Here is a pic of daddy waiting patiently outside.

ooh beautiful soakes - I am jealous! Fabulous photo of the nest too, they can be so tricky to photograph.

I'm jealous too. Lucky they built it in a spot where you can see it. I have never been able to find the nests my wrens build. I have very thick grass and undergrowth, I only ever see them go in, or come out. Can't wait to see more photos.

( have you seen my photos of a female doing the rodent - run? they must have a new nest in the thick grass)

Hi Araminta. I've also seen a willie wagtail doing the rodent run every time I went near its nest next to our clothes line. (Ms Woko isn't the only one around here who goes near the clothes line).

What were you doing there?

Hanging out & taking in the washing while I was waiting for the vacuum cleaner to warm up, pacman.

I looked in the nest yesterday and there are 3 little pink blobs.  Mummy has been active flying in and out and I caught a few glimpses of daddy too.

It would have been too obtrusive to get a photo :/

Hey, Soakes. Are you (& the fairy-wrens) safe from the Gippsland bushfires? Hope so!

Yeah, the fires are nowhere near me.  I do have some neighbours who are CFA volunteers and who have been fighting them though.

Great!  We'll be fledging at the same time!  Unfortunately I might be away when that happens.  How long do these birds stay in the nest?

Hi soakes, I just read , depending on what kind of bird they are, around 2 weeks. Sounds a bit long to me?
