Nathan, If I remember correct the males keep the blue in their tail?
Hi Nathan. Eclipse plumage males don't have the red-orange eye patch (to be technical, eye ring & lores) that the females have. Also, the males have a bluish tail whereas the female's tail is grey-brown.
