Hi Kerry, aren't they very common where you live? Around Melbourne you find them on every lake. On the lake in Albert Park (where they have the F1 races) there are hundreds. Unfortunately people feed them all kinds of crap, and there is no way of teaching them they shouldn't either. But because of it, the Swans come right up to the edge of the water. I hope you can come and see them one day?
hey there ive seen swans around never been that close to them only seen them from a distance we went for a walk around the lagoons in maryborough, queensland and saw this one i stood quietly and took heaps of pics it didnt stop what it was doing, im guessing they are used to people, i so would love to live near those lagoons i would be there at different times of the day, and different seasons to see what new bird was there.">http://www.flickr.com/photos/94756233

swans are in my top 10 list of birds, it was the first time i got so close to a swan it was amazing to watch
