I have chosen these photos deliberately, I would like to find out what those “circles” behind the bird are caused by? I have read about them before, but can’t remember where, and I did not understand either. One thing is certain, they are not “aliens visiting from outer space”. Can someone clever explain this phenomena to me? In simple language, if possible, so I can understand?
They can't be reflections from the sun, the sun was behind me.
Also, if you have a close look at the circles, they are behind the bird in places, so they can't be reflections? Or can they?
M-L
I would say they are reflections from something in the background.
With the shallow depth of field in the pic it blurs out what it is.

Lens flare can make all sorts of blobs and distortions appear on an image even with the sun behind you,it could be reflections from all sorts of things, water and glass are the main offenders.
this is an easy fix in photoshop
I was just looking at this image and how shallow the D.O.F is that really is an amazing piece of glass you have there !
Hi Shirley. I think you might be confused, my post was a simple explanation for the effect that M-L asked for.
I do know a lot about photography but thank you for your time in your reply.
The photo's are M-L's not mine

Same here Shirley, I think we've all done it
Thanks to everybody for giving me a few ideas about this topic. By now I have read a fair bit about it. There could have been some dust particles in the air. It couldn't be on the sensor, my daughter, a good photographer, had just cleaned the traslucent mirror and the sensor.
Thanks sparrow for your input. I don't have photoshop to remove anything. I think the circles add to the charm of a photo ,in many ways I do like them. But I do understand a bit more about them now.
And thanks for the comment about my lens. I'm pretty certain the "piece of glass" is a Carl Zeiss .(but I will check on that again, don't want to give the wrong info)

Hi M-L, in regard to the lens.
The G series are designed and made by Sony.
The ZA lens are designed by Carl Zeiss but still made by Sony to CZ specifications.

Thanks Shorty, I just had a look, you are spot on Would there be a big difference in quality ? ( $$$?)
M-L
If CZ made the lens it would cost more. CZ are considered the best optics money can buy.
? Did you know that the ZA lenses are the only CZ designed lenses with auto focus. All the lenses they make are manual only.

Sony was Minolta and Minolta was responsible for some of the sharpest lenses ever made so its a win win
I dont like anything in my photos I didn't mean to put there, but thats me ,must be artsy side coming through!
