This one is a Striated Heron Alan. A very interesting looking individual too.
Cheers, Owen.
Thanks again, they seem to vary a lot!
Hi Owen
is this another
Regards Alan
That one is a Pied Heron BajanAlan
Thanks Nathan, Just very dirty,
Do they ever have white eyebrows?
that one could be a half-grown juvenile, i think
My attention has just been drawn to this thread
the 3 birds are all Pied Herons - note particularly the bill colour and the stance
Striated Herons are noted for their skulking behaviour not standing upright with neck extended as the pic;
Striated Herons have a grey bill, yellowish below;
they are also a dumpy bird
I will attach a couple of pics, from the many in my library, ie I am very confident of this ID
Peter
I agree with peter... Ithink the original photo is a Pied Heron... I would say that the bird has a stained neck from fishing in contaminated water.
Brandon (aka ihewman)
Hi Brandon original bird is Pied Heron Rufous Morph
My apologies, original bird is a Pied Heron rufous morph!
