Many people wonder if penguins have fur or feathers. Penguins are birds and therefore have feathers. Penguin feathers are very short and compact giving the appearance of fur. Penguins can have 100 feathers per square inch! These special attributes give them a smooth coat allowing them to swim faster and protecting them from freezing water. I only spotted two on Sunday at Phillip Island. It was too cold and windy, they were hiding at the back of those boxes.Only one ,way up on a hill ,showed it's sleepy face.
Well today was crappy with cold winds and overcast sky's, this bird was in the shadows and would not let me get close so............high iso and large crop but it is my first one, so added to the list
great photo for crap conditions rawshorty ...i would be definatley pleased with that, and I know these little scrubwrens don't stay still for long. You mentioned earlier you have not been into bird photgraphy long, niether have I. I started with macros of bugs and nature and for my 40th i got a zoom point and shoot camera so always being a bird lover I had an oppotuntity to capture them as well ...and well what can i say ...there is NO stopping now ....birds are obsessively addictive.
Feathers? We all have them, says the little pied cormorant. After I preen and dry them, I'm very proud to show them off.
