Can anyone identify this bird. It was very small. about the same size as the fairy wrens that were feeding in the same trees maybe a little smaller. It seemed to be eating insects and insect pupae. In the sun it was very bight yellow and it's back seemed to be a light bright olive. It also seems to have a small area of pinkish spots on its cheeks. I thought it might be a young yellow breasted robin but it was smaller than others I have seen and the colouiring seemed too bright. Whatever he is he is a lovely little fellow and seemed to like the sound of my voice when I asked him to pose for me. Though he wasn't still for very long at all.
looks like a yellow thornbill
Even without looking I was thinking what Sparrow said. Spot on!
Yellow Thornbill, definitely... Notice that there are no markings or striations on any part of the bird except for those fluffy-looking ear coverts.
