The brown Thornbill.

I'm fascinated by the speed they travel at. I also love their beautiful song. They are all over my trees at the moment, but hardly ever come down to feed on the ground. So, I concider myself lucky to have been in the right spot at the right time.

Here are some of the photos I took:

Thornbills do actually spend a lot of time on the ground... mostly foraging. They will rely on bushes and trees, should they need to retreat. And being small birds, I suppose they would be extremely wary of their surroundings. So you did a good job getting pictures like that.

I like the perspective the water droplets in the first photo add (ie, this thing is very, very small...)

The first photo is amazing, but I just can't quite get over the first one- it's floating on the leaves! Kind of apt too, thornbills seem to bounce all over the place, so I guess they don't need legs!
