Can someone please tell me how far up north you can find Cape Barren Geese?
(I get very excited about them and their babies, even down here there are very few places (like Phillip Island) where you can find them. Or am I the only one, as there isn't much of a response to them?)
According to my field guide, they are also casually found in southern NSW. Presumably, it's talking about the far south coast (ie, Moruya, Bega, Eden). I do wonder why their normal range doesn't extend out through Gippsland and into NSW. Maybe it's diet? My field suggests they in salty areas with 'native succulents' (saltbush?), and in brackish swamps. To the east there'd be more rainfall that'd preclude this sort of habitat, wouldn't it?

Looks like the southern coastline of SA is about as North that they are.

I can't help with an answer as I have never seen them before so know nothing about them sorry, the only goose I have seen is the white domestic kind
