set up the tripod and camera with remote trigger attached near the bird bath today with the aim of capturing an elusive Red Headed Honeyeater that has been visiting lately. Set the focus to manual and aimed on the spot i was hoping they would land, then sat back on the lounge on the verandah and took lots of photos!, Reasonably successful, managed to get a few in focus shots and lots of "moving" shots and half birds etc. Also captured a juvenile RHH, with just a glimpse of color coming through, that was good to see, also the usual bathers, Bar shouldered Doves, Double Bar Finches, Brown Honeys, White Fronted honeys, Dusky honeys.
Heres some pics of the Reds and a Dove.
Great stuff Hendo . I'll be up there in a couple of weeks , leaving Adelaide next Monday What part of the Top end are you in ?

Neil, outer Darwin area, Palmerston.
I stay at the Malak caravan park on McMillans road , Surprising how many birds I see there just sitting quietly under the awning![smiley smiley](https://www.birdsinbackyards.net/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/regular_smile.gif)

Nice ones, Hendo.
Don't know what camera you use but with a Canon you can use EOS utility and tether the camera to a PC via a usb cable and have full control of all settings including focus, giving you full control and being able to see what the camera see's via your monitor.

Hi Hendo, great photos. I have a canon and hadn't even looked at eos utility. Did you have to,get a long cable to be able to have the camera away from the pc? Or is there another accessory required?
Donnanags,
Wow! Boy those RHH are beautiful
Gorgeous shots - more please!

Donna, i was just using a remote trigger, which attaches to the flash shoe on top of the camera (got it off ebay for $20 odd dolars, elcheapo thing but works ok!) and it comes with a little hand held remote. the camera will only work in manual mode when using the remote control, so you have to pre focus on a spot and hope for the best! I was using a 50mm 1.8, lens, so the focus zone was a bit narrow, but i was just experimenting, i'll try another lens this week and see how it goes, a nice way to spend Sunday arvo!
I will look at the Eos utility, and yes, it would require a decent lenght of cable which might be a drawback.
and every body else: Yes they are beautiful little birds, sometimes you just catch a glimpse of bright red in the foliage and you know who it was, they really add some color to a (sometimes) dull bird array, if you know what i mean!
One more!
Fabulous series of shots! Gotta love a bird bath for bringing the birds in - well done Hendo!
Thanks for the info Hendo.
