I have only ever had one of these in my backyard once. I do love they way they are so clever to mimic other bird calls and sounds . Wonder what he is eating in that first photo?
I've lived in the same area for a long time. It's funny, up until about 15-20 years ago we only ever had the pied butcherbirds. Then they disappeared and we got the Grey Butcherbirds. In the last year or two we've had both. (although mainly the Pied)
The Grey ones are definitely my favourite of the two. They always seemed the more friendly. Sometimes overly friendly, like when they would invite themselves in for a snack if they saw you left food out on the bench.
