baby chuffs

In the national park today and saw these very cute baby chuffs. I was surprised by the nest, came home and read that it is made up with mud.  Looks very small and a tight fit for the parent bird and 2 chicks.  I love the last photo where they are exausted by the feeding and are sound asleep with ?mum

Hi M-L

Oops - did not even check my well thumbed "Birds of Australia" - thanks for that.  I am still on a strong learning curve regarding our feathered friends - but do find it so exciting when I photograph a "new" bird" to me.  And they are cute - especially when asleep.

Cheers Diane

If we are going to get picky with spelling, it should be Chough (Chouph, Chuff), boy am I bored today. Love the pics anyway, well done.

You are so right Dale, exactly how I wanted to write itcrying Have to get my brain back into gear, after two days without power, (tree fell on our power pole smashing everything), freezing cold and dark inside the house, it'll take some time to come back to lifeblush

I guess your fairly CHUFFED to have the power back, been fairly rough down here, but not like we are seeing from Victoria (sorry Diane could not help myself).

Hi Shorty

No the photos of the baby Choughs (chuffs) were taken at Namagi just behind the visitor's centre.  Going there early tomorrow to see what else I can spy, lots of little birds there in the trees.  Still waiting to photograph a gang gang properly.  Heard two lots last Saturday at Namagi but they flew into the sun so I missed them.

Cheers Diane
