I went to Karawatha Forest over the weekend and didn't get a single photo during my walk but along the final path between the trees and the houses I found this good looking bird sitting there on a fence.

Love this shot cassie, and the pose is beautiful. I think I posted the same in someone elses thread
but I like these shots and call them the Hollywood red carpet (or Oscars 
) shot - looking back over the shoulder so you can see the back of the ballgown type of thing. Lovely detail.

back in the sixtys puckapunyal half covered in snow got closer and the snow went back into the sky, these and coellas eating onion weed.
Thanks, Cassie. It's easy to overlook mentioning locations of sightings. I'm confident I've done it myself on numerous occasions but I always find it helpful if location is mentioned.
I 've found that the bottom side of Karawatha, off Riaweena/Illaweena Rd, near the creek is quite OK for birds.
I've seen a fair few things around there including nesting Tawny Frogmouths and various fairy wren species.
Also, walking through the wetter area along creeklines from there up towards the dam was reasonable.
The drier areas through the middle and on the northern side, or too close to the Gateway motorway have been less successful for me.

Ah cool - I might have to give it another go. I've become a bit too repetitive in my birding lately - partially a product of finding particularly exciting things in particular places, I suppose, but need to broaden my horizons.
