Spotted this little guy in once in our back yard and once on the edge of our dam. Have never seen one previously and was wondering how common they are?

We're at Mooloolah Valley in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and this image was taken a few weeks ago.
Thanks Annie. Our dam levels are quite low and the Snipe was using its long beak to forage around the water's edge.

btw - I know that they are different families but I wanted to use the cousin term

Lovely photo of the Snipe, those things are so hard to ge close to and their plumage is fascinating.
I didn't notice those Parklakes Wetlands sightings until the day after I went home from the Sunshine Coast.
