Definitely not Quiet Miner! I would love to see some exotic shots. I will see where on earth we put our Morocco shots this year - I have some White Storks - not great photos in themselves but full of memories.
Straited Heron
The two Moroccan bird shots I found (I have more but goodness knows where I put them) are terrible. I took much nicer landscapes and people shots!
Anyway:
House Bunting - a pair lived in our riad in Marrakech and kept trying to steal bits of our toast
White Storks - they were nesting on buildings, city walls and ancient ruins. Absolutely fascinating!
One of my favourites, and the first one which immediately springs to mind. It's a Fledgling Pacific Baza testing his/her wings. I think it captures that sense of realisation that "Heyy, maybe I can fly!"
Two of my favourite birds from my time in Britain: Puffins and Nuthatches.

Fantastic shots so far! Mine would have to be this White-faced heron on a dead tree, it may not be my "best" shot but it sure is my favourite
I like it Cassie, there's a richness to the colours.
Whenever I see those herons, I always think they look so prim and proper.

I think the last time I had a close encounter with a wedgie was in grade 7.
Tough call! Can I nominate Shorty's Wedgie photos as the best photos I have seen all year? They were wonderful to look at!
But, of my own photos, my favourite would have to be a Kooka.

All great shots everyone. I'd have to +1 Lachlans comment and rate Shorty's Wedgie shots as my favourites for the year - the whole set in Flickr is sensational Shorty. For me, a nearly up close & personal spying of a pair of Red-capped Plovers was my highlight, absolute little pocket rockets.
West Coast Tasmania
On a camping trip to Coongie Lakes mid year we spent some time fishing on Cooper Creek and each day at the exact same time a flock of Little Corellas arrived, had a drink then snuggled up in pairs in the river gums above us. They were so much fun to watch.
Also liked this Eastern Spinebill taken at O'Reilly's on the Lamington Plateau.
