I went to the Boondall Wetlands yesterday for the first time & had a bit of a wonder round. probably got there a bit late in the morning, not much birdlife around but on the way back to the car saw some movement in the tree tops. This bird was very shy & elusive ducking behind branches and anything it could find to stop me from photographing it. Only managed to snap a couple of shots as it flew away. When I got home & checked the images I was delighted to see it was a Pheasant Coucal, My first sighting. I will surely return only next time much earlier in the morning.
Excellent pics Dennis. They're such a flighty (pun partially intended) bird, always skedaddling at the first sign of a human. Usually I take photos of "Pheasant Coucal's tail sticking out of a tree".
Looks like he/she has a nice spider for lunch.
Great capture of a stunning looking bird and with lunch to boot ,I have never seen one and only remember ever seeing one blury photo so well done
Ah so that's what I saw on one of my visits there haha. Great shots, they sure don't like to stick around
great pictures ... it has such beautiful wings
What a great find, and capture Dennis! Such a beautiful bird, and the flight shot shows off that magnificent patterning so well. Love how he seems to be flying towards a shimmering vortex (on the right).. haze on a warm day? Boy you catch the flight shots so well!!

Thankyou everyone for your comments, I will certainly return to Boonall Wetlands again soon. I was really stoked to find out that I captured images of this Bird, had no Idea what it was at the time because it was all over in a couple of seconds so as I said before it wasnt till I got home and had a look at the images. Hopefully it wont be my last sighting.
Cheers.
