Hi
Is this a ??? .... i dont know what it is. Possibly (but im doubtful) a female eastern koel as it was about the size of a koel. The feathers on the back were a rich brown, possibly a hint of green too. It was in Lane Cove National Park in sydney. Only got these shots before it disappeared for good.
I hope someone can help with an id.
Many thanks
WD
A young Satin Bowerbird, maybe?
Either a Satin (like Nathan said), or a Regent Bowerbird?

Thanks Nathan and Araminta for the id .... I found some pics on the web of immature satin bowerbirds that looked quite similar to mine.
IMHO, the female Regent Bowerbird resembles a thrush, in terms of body shape, more than a Satin Bowerbird.
The blue eye on this bird gives its identity as a Satin BB.
