I think it is a rufous-throated honeyeater that has visited my bird bath a few times, but for ony a second or two. Too quick for me to get a photo of it as yet. But I would like to know now, does it also have a red/rufous stripe down its back? I can't find a picture to confirm this. In the meantime I will keep trying to get a photo.
Honeyeater with red stripe down it's back! That description sounds like Scarlet Honeyeater.
Thanks Steve but definitely not a scarlet honeyeater. This one only has an orangy-red patch on its throat. Still waiting to get a photo.
I am starting to think you may be right Steve, and me dreadfully wrong. I apologise. I hadn't thought of a female scarlet honeyeater. The red throat and red back are noticeable. Still trying to get a photo.
