Just before it started to rain, hundreds of ants emerged from underground, stretched their wings and flew off. Within a few minutes all of them had taken off and disappeared into the distance.

Lots of flying ants here (s.e. slopes of Mt Lofty Ranges, SA), too, but immediately after the rain. They were accompanied by about 18 Dusky Woodswallows but I didn't see any hawking of them by the Woodswallows.
