Rainbow Lorikeet

These photo's were taken in our backyard of this Rainbow Lorikeet Mutation, I have never seen these colours before.

Galah

The yellow splotching looks similar to the "pied" mutations out there in aviaries (I don't understand people's obsession with creating birds like this). Parrots can also get discoloured feathers from illness (e.g. liver disease, or PBFD though he is too well feathered for that), often due to artificial feeding where disease and malnutrition can occur.

I'm leaning towards that one having some pied genes though.

Maybe he's suffering from Yellow Feather, a bird variation of Yellow Fever? (My poor attempt at humour for this morning).

Galah, I wonder if people's obsessions, of whatever stripe, are in large part meeting their need for control even if it's over just a small part of the world such as breeding awkwardly colored birds or constantly sweeping small stones from a footpath.

This is more likly a wild "pied" they can occur in all types of birds the loss of blue pigment makes the green yellow ,this bird is even more unusual because it still has a blue head and some blue on its lower body in this type of pied the head is almost always orange .

Please don't give out the birds location !

He's put bleach in the wash and his suit has come out splotchy.
