Red Necked Avocet

One of my favourite birds. Taken yesterday on the tidal flats between Goolwa and Beacon 19 on the Barrages Road.

Must be a tough job trying to eat anything with that bill. Lovely bird, and lovely pictures though!

Lovely images, that shot of three in flight is great.

Oh wow, gorgeous set Rick!  That rufous and white combination is just stunning - and that beak, another of natures wonders.  Cracker timing in the flight shot, spectacular!

Hey Rick, Great shots of some very photogenic Birds, That 2nd image is a cracker & is a must for a wall hanging. I don't think I've ever sighted these birds before apart from photos. Great work!

Cheers.

Nice job ,I've never seen one either, and I think the three in a row photo is ripper the way the birds get higher and the wings get lower showing a little more dark wing tip on each just stunning

I'm surprised sparrow. If any of you would come down my way, at times there are hundreds at the Western Treatment Plant.

Sorry to use your thread to show this to sparrow, hope you don't mind? (if you do, I can delete it?)

Just checked the date when the photo was taken. On the 7th of April last year. So they should be there right now?

Thanks for all the lovely comments, they really are a striking bird.

Araminta, Would prefer that in the future photos weren't posted to threads that I initiate, just how I am.

No need to delete and nothing personal.

Cheers
