Is this spotted pardalote?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if this is Spotted Pardalote? It is very small, about few cm in length. Plenty of them live in Eucalyptus tree, making lots of short chip-chip sound. Thank you.

I believe it's a Thornbill, Ling. Probably a Yellow Thornbill as they also make a chip-chip call.

Hi Curtis, Yes. It should be thornbill. Do you think it may be Stratied thornbill as the chest of this bird is not really that yellow. I live in VIC, 50km north of Melbourne. Does this help to identify the species. Cheers. Ling

Can it be yellow-rumped thornbill?

Hi Ling. It is a Striated Thornbill. I originally thought it was but got drawn to Yellow Thornbills as the Striated's call was totally wrong. Striated Thornbills make insect-like calls: http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/Acanthiza-lineata

Totally wrong for Yellow-rumped Thornbill as well and they mainly forage on the ground.

As Cotton says, a Striated Thornbill, fongling.

By the way, it's probably a good idea if you put your requests for indentification in the Identifications section. You'll probably get more people looking at them there.

Thanks for reply. Is the birds identification session in the "Bird Finder" page?
