Lake Gilles Conservation Park is located on Upper Eyre Peninsula about 20klm from Kimba.
To the South of the saline lake is a nice patch of Mallee scrub/dune system which I was lucky to have a couple of days at last week.
As well as an amazing variety of smaller birds, it is also home to some birds of prey.
I was lucky enough to come across three different types, Wedgetail, Brown Goshawk and Brown Falcon while I was there. My bird ID is not so hot, so happy to be corrected, though I think I am safe with the Wedgetail. The Wedgetail was visiting a colony of Tree Martins and the small birds were quite happy to let him know that they were unhappy.
Amazing Shots Rick. Especially like your Spotted Harriers.

Sounds like a great trip, Rick. I am pretty sure the second bird is a Spotted Harrier though. Great pics

That is not a Brown Goshawk, it is a Spotted Harrier Rick.
Thanks Shorty & Tim for the clarification, I see the difference now that I compare them.
Seems to be more defined banding in the tail for one thing.
Shorty, was an amazing few days, such a variety of birds.
This is one of the great tragedies of the outback, Rick. Mallee scrub is seen to be good only for removal so that something "productive" can be done with the land such as mining or cropping. Most people think there's nothing there worth a hoot. In fact, there's a richness of life forms of all kinds. Eyes open, Australia.
Couldn't agree more Woko, just wonderful country to walk through.
