Powerful Owl

Hi, I'm new here. I just wanted to share some photos I took today of a powerful owl with prey. I often go looking for these gorgeous owls near where I live and today I was lucky enough to find one in a position to allow me to get some nice shots.

I was directed to its general direction by a friendly fellow who mentioned this website, so I thought I would come and check it out. I hope you enjoy.

Lovely pictures. And welcome to the site! smiley Such a magnificent bird. I hope to see one one day myself.

Great shots of an amazing bird! I think they are looking for volunteers in Sydney area for a study on Powerful owl numbers, if you may be interested. What equipment were you using to get these shots?

Thank you, I was using a Nikon D800 with a Nikon 300mm f4 lens. I might start checking on them more regularly if I can find the time. But my expeditions to find them have been largely unsuccessful.

Very nice photo.

This is likely a male waiting for his mate and nightfall.

I would like to suggest that you do not share this location with any other photographers.

The owls are rather sensitive this time of the year and undue attention may cause them to desert nesting duties. If you want more info, please send me a message privately.
