White faced Heron

Caught this one in our dam this afternoon - Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Fantastic capture... that reflection looks unreal. Whereabouts in the hinterland are you?

Sorry but I just had another look at the reflection .... is that genuine or did you use an editing app for it?  Dont mean to offend but it just looks too perfect !

Brilliant shot rbuddy. Great timing to get it with the beak in the pond.

The shape and pose of the heron in that image bought the NZ kiwi strongly to my mind.  (  ....  probably because my mind is weak and confused!!)

Just a magic reflection. That would go on my wall for sure.

No Birdie, it's entirely genuine.  My Photoshop skills don't extend to that kind of subterfuge.   We're at the Mooloolah Valley in the hinterland.

Wow, that is a simply astounding reflection then!!!  I would have been holding my breath and firing away too ..... Mooloolah Valley is a nice spot, I am at Bli Bi currently and most of my birding is around this area .

Great job with this .... better camp out there and take some more for us then laugh

Just gorgeous mate! Such a look of concentration on its face. smiley

The ones I find tend to be quite skittish. Amazing shot!

Have to confess to having the advantage of a hide set up by our dam - it works well.   It is the wetlands at Bli Bli that you find the birds?

Ahhh I see you are playing with serious gear and a hide.... a recipe for success with your very own dam toosmiley

I use Bli Bli a lot , and did even before I moved from Buderim to here...... it has the attraction of lots of water ways and wetlands so you can get a nice variety of birds. Lately I have been having a ball in the late afternoon, I really should post some I guess. I usually just find areas that look really boring to most people.. you know, full of weeds and scrubby stuff ..... the little birds love it in there

I havent been able to get into the Maroochy Wetlands for months as they are renovating the board walks and the weather and mosquito invasion delayed the work . Should be finished some time in July. I live near Parklakes and that is OK if yu get there before the joggers and the dogs etc. Down the side roads are good too around this area

That is the photographic equivalent of owning a Ferrari and having your own race track.....

Even to the extent of selling one's children and going barefoot it's worth it!  Have just updated to the Mark III and very impressed.
