Rainy effects

Went to my favourite lake ( Bibra ) a couple of weeks ago , it was a terrible day so much rain . Lucky they have a couple of hides there to provide shelter. My first stop at shelter I managed to get a series of photos of a Spoonbill in flight , it was so dark and gloomy and the Spoonbill wasn't enjoying the heavy rain at all. When I got a break in the weather I headed down to the other hide and got suspended there for almost 3 hours as the rain would not stop . It is amazing to see how the birds tackle harsh conditions . The birds of prey were out in force ,unfortunately I didnt get any decent photos of them but they kept all the other water birds on their toes which gave me the opportunity to practice on flight photos. It wasnt till I got home and looked at the photos on the computer that I was pleased with the way the rain gave the photos a nice soft effect.  I have used a little editing on these photos only to increase the contrast slightly ,I havent added any effect to these photos it is purely the rain.

Oh lucky you had a hide or two shoop!  Only one thing missing from hides I think when the weather strands you in one, a cafe and loo! laugh  These are gorgeous shots.  Particularly LOVE the ducks in flight.  The rain has added to give such a gentle look, they almost look like a water colour painting or something.  Just beautiful.

Great shots, looks like it was really pouring down. Softens everything.

Love those flying ducks in the rain with the blues and greens in the wings - wonderful.
