I found this eastern spinebill chick on my garden pathway. After waiting patiently for half an hour, Mum and Dad appeared and commenced to feed him from my hand. It was such a magical experience - made me cry!

Good on you, nanabull, for allowing this youngster to be fed naturally.
Unless the youngster is in imminent danger & about to be collared by a cat, lashed by a lawn mower or trampled by a truck it's probably best to leave the youngster where it falls. The parent birds know where it is & are best suited to protect it, notwithstanding our own protective instincts.

Thank you for your comments. Firstly, I couldn't leave him on the path as I have dogs and I couldn't risk them harming him. I couldn't find the nest anywhere, so had a plastic baskety thing,put a cloth in it and settled it up in my maple tree and made him comfy in there. Mum and Dad very appreciative and continued to feed him there. Perhaps a week later, I checked on him and he was gone but I could hear him calling for food. They are still around in my garden. I can move around them and they aren't fussed about me at all. I also have blue wrens, new hollands, silver eyes and a few others I am trying to identify.
Thank you so much for your interest. It truly was a very magical experience for me - one I will never forget. My daughter is a registered wildlife shelter and cares for injured and orphaned wildlife, so we are used to handling babies. She has taught me well. xxx
My daughter has videos and is trying to convert them to a suitable format to post on the forum.
