That's exactly what he was doing. There were two females flitting about him and they certainly had his undivided attention!

He needs a feed, He was probably watching a bigger bird catch the bug he wanted.
The dominant male at my place has 6 girls. He is still looking fat. But last season he was so run of his feet after he had to give a lot of attention to his girls , (mind you they were chasing him), he started to hide under bushes. In the end he was not able to stand up anymore, I often saw him on his tummy.
