I see these lovely birds every day. They can be very funny as they hop about with their family group. At the moment the family at my house is preparing a new nest. They never seem to get tired of building their nests. Last year the five here at my house built eighteen nests! When they where sitting on eggs the family shared the job of incubating. They built two nests and four of the adults slept in one at night while the other one was on the eggs. It was very interesting to watch.
The babblers are very photogenic although they don't often stop long enough to get a good shot
They always look so soft
Lovely looking birds, and nicely captured Elsie - they do look lovely and soft.
Interesting to learn what you have observed of their behavior - sound very keen on nest building! I had a look at the BIBY factsheet for them - and lo and behold one of the pictures had a Babbler with a huge beakful of nesting materials.
Lovely shots Elsie. Cute bird, have only seen White Browed. Thanks.
Nice shots! Like Rick, I have only seen White Browed.
Oh lucky you Elsie, to have these around and about you every day. They certainly are very attractive birds, and I agree, they look so soft! That first shot is beautifully composed with the log in the background, and the bird foraging, just gorgeous. Would love to see some more if you get the time and the little devils stay still longer for you!

Thank you all for your lovely comments! I managed to get one semi-good shot this morning. They like to forage through our domestic ducks grain. Although I have noticed that they rarely actually eat the grain, they tend to go for the ants
I am sorry that the shot is a bit blurry, they move their heads really fast when they are foraging
Gorgeous photos I have never seen one before, thanks for sharing.

Well done Elsie! I know how difficult it can be to photograph these birds.
There is a "gang" or flock of these that hang around my place and sometimes they get so obsessed in what they are all doing that if you can predict which tree they are going to land in it is worth standing still right next to the tree or bush and just wait as they go about their busness completely unaware of you. Predicting the right tree is the tricky part and I have found that my success rate improves when I don't have my camera with me!!!.

Duplicates removed for you Reflex. Sorry think this will be related to some database issues we are having...
Great photos by the way Elsie - they are such funny and animated birds, you have captured them beautifully.
Haha I know what you mean Reflex! they also seem to like trees and shrubs with lots of leaves
Thanks again everyone for your lovely comments!
I love watching these guys, the comic clowns of the bird world! Very communal hippies these mob!
