Horsfield's bronze-cuckoo

Spent some time with this lovely little bird at Lily Lagoon in Longreach yesterday. I was watching a number of White-winged Trillers feasting on grubs on the muddy flat when that brilliant green and bronze caught my eye. My first sighting on this bird so it made my day.

They certainly are a gorgeous looking bird, still looking for my first one. Thanks for sharing!

They're such a vastly different coloured & patterned bird front and back, just beautiful.  I have never seen one myself although glimpsed a Shining-Bronze last Spring for the first time and got a very pleasant surprise when that one turned around, although in a bit of gloom so I didn't get to appreciate the sheen like you've caught here.  Looking forward to seeing what else pops up in your revolving Backyard!

Good looking bird. The brown behind the eye reminds me of a style of eyeliner.
