Like most of the east coast of Australia, we are all pretty wet here (talk about a slow trip to work - and our entrance road was flooded!). Good chance to share your images of birds in the rain or in water. Its one we have done before.
Nice broad topic for you again this week. One photo per post and 2 posts between postings per person.
Butcher Bird sheltering in our carport, still singing though.
How cute is the Butcherbird Carports make a good hiding place. This King Parrot (Frankie) was sitting on my car when it rained.

This Australian Wood Duck was out in the rain.

Dont take many photos in the rain.
This one has rain and birds in it, does anyone know what they are?
Mark
That is an amazing shot. Do you know what they are? Are they Sulpher Crested Cockatoos, they look like cockatoos or correllas.
Do I know where they are? Help me find them

There are 6 black dots left of the lightning, impossible to properly tell what they are but it looks like a flock of cockies.
Might be hamerkops - which among certain African tribes is believed to be the mythical lightning bird.
I can see some small bird like dark shapes against the clouds between the tree on the left and the lightning bolt. But im struggling to even id those as birds!
I can see 6 birds, maybe Ravens?
The lightning looks like Marge Simpson
Great shot.

We are finally getting some rain here!! These scalys aren't so happy about it

Thanks for the comments on the lightning shot. I think they are most likely corellas.
These guys were riding the debris down the flooded Clarence. I could not work out why they were not flying off especially as they were approaching the bridge. All the other were.
It was only when they got closer I noticed the babies.

Noisy Miner bathing in our pool.
Great shots everyone.
Thats a interesting one of the swamp hen family mpb. Have to hope they all made it safely to dry ground.
Google+ Auto Awesome adds 'snow' to my photo ! ? !
I prefer to avoid going out while it's raining, but I did get caught in a down pour while at my local dog park along with a few Corella's

Annie you take the most amazing photos! You have such a great eye. Your shots not only look great but they have character. I wish you were up here so I could learn from you.
Devster
Ahh Devster, you give me too much credit I'm afraid , but thankyou. I have the worst technical knowledge, everything is the doohicky thingamy. I joined here early last year and have learnt most stuff from here - there are many amazing knowledgable members in this forum who are only too happy to help, so you are in the right place! Still so much to learn for me on all levels - the internet and youtube are a great help also, oh, and having fun with practice practice practice.

We had at least 6 drops of rain yesterday in Charleville so the Yellow-throated Miner took a bath. Sue
Oh dear Sue ... I feel for you out there... is that all you have received from all this rain? We are still getting soaked here, I took a shot in my garden but cant post it yet as nobody is posting!!!

Here you go birdie, you can post now
This Black Currawong had a lot to say about the rain this day, never seems to bother them much though.

This was one of the wettest days at the Treatment Plant. Thick fog and the kind of drizzle you can hardly see, but after a few minutes you are soaking wet. I took this photo hiding the camera under my jacket, and quickly got back in the car

Wow Annie... that Black Currawong is a stunner!!!
Here is my favourite Spangled Drongo on my fence yesterday in the rain ....
Sunshine Coast Queensland
I think that Frankie and the Drongo are my pick. Being desperate for rain, some birds resort to other means. Call this an action shot. Sue
Thanks birdie. Took that one up near Cradle Mt, sadly it almost feels like cheating with some of these guys lately though as a few seem to be getting easier to sneak up on - my conclusion, possibly because of handouts from well meaning tourists .
Beautiful sheen you've caught on that Spangled Drongo, just gorgeous. I have to confess, the Ockerina in me has a little giggle at the name of these birds. I was curious to know if they were named before the slang term came about, so looked it up. Wasn't what I expected at all, but least I know now

I don't know if you can trust that source Annie, especially when it gives a meaning to the next word. (Read the link and you will know what I mean)
Devster
Lol, yes I saw that one too Devster and had a bit of a chuckle. I read through a few of the more familiar ones after I saw that and cross-googled, and the ones I checked seem to be pretty accurate definitions. My conclusion, given the site is the ANU in Canberra and an Education Dept site, the Dropbear definition is perhaps just someones idea of a giggle, to keep poor unsuspecting exchange students out of the woods at night
