A great description for a Pheasant Coucal who was determined to run in front of the car this morning but I had other plans. Most people only see them as they run in front of the car or when they are mobbed by other birds.
My view from the road.

Great that you got some photos of one out in the open. I usually find they're quite good at the skulking part... hiding in trees... etc.
Their tails are really quite magnificent! :)
Great looking bird.
Well caught with camera and missed with car.
What a beautiful bird, it's markings are amazing. Was it a tough one to sneak up on Reflex?

The night before, I narrowly missed running over this bird in the dark on my way home. I even thought at the time, that's a bird you don't see on birds in backyards because they spend all their time in the undergrowth.
Everything is mating or keen to mate at the moment and as a result birds seem to be prepared to take chances that they don't normally take.
I was late for work again but what a stunning portrait!
