These pics from Scarborough, Qld on 27/1/13, a group of birds feeding in the mud aroung mangroves

I have ID'ed as Great Knot - comments please

Yes, it's a Great Knot, in partial breeding plumage.

laugh actually doing very long hours here, but I maximise my weekend hours

thanks, a lucky shot, I stopped the car at a favourite bend on Oysterr Point Esplanade, Scarborough as I saw pair of Pied Oystercatchers and then saw these little fellows, taken from the car
