BABY TAWNY FROGMOUTH RESCUE

I just happened to look out the window just as a baby frogmouth tumbled from his nest to the ground.  He fluttered all the way down, and landed over the back fence in the kindergarten.  It was 6am and raining.  Mum and Dad frogmouths were sitting on the fence looking at him.  I also climbed up and was looking over the fence at him when the gardener arrived.  I handed him a towel to pick up the little fellow, which he did.  You should have seen the look on his face when he saw the parents next to me on the fence.  Anyway, the little one was uninjured, and I put him as high up as I could into the tree.

Next day he actually took his first real flight successfully.  This is him next day.  The weather was much better.  Sorry the picture quality is so poor.  I took it with my old camera and accidentally deleted the full size pic, leaving me with only this one which was a tiny thumbnail I blew up.

What a beautiful story, what a lucky young bird to have you to find it. The photo is great, I hope to see more of them.

(BTW, you can get deleted photos back, there are a few free programs you can download, called "Memorycard Recovery")

Thank you.  I think I'm the lucky one to have birds around to share their life's stories.  As for photo retrieval, sadly it was another computer, gone now to computer heaven.

I wasn't talking about your computer, I was talking about the" Memory Card Recovery" on your camera. Those photos will be there! I did it two weeks ago, much talked about on this forum, after I deleted photos on my camera. You can google on the net, all the info is there.

Oh sorry, I didn't know about that.  Will ask my partner, he is the technology person.  Set him a challenge like that, and it keeps our relationship going strong :)  Thanks for the tip.  Now where's that old camera?

Great story, lucky little fellow you saw his plight!

Yes, there are a lot of cats around here, and he wouldn't have stood much of a chance out there all day.  He was an adventurous little fellow, too eager to start just that bit too early.
