These are actually Black-winged Stilts or White-headed Stilts, depending on the literature you're following. :-)
Nice shots BTW....
You certainly have a nack for photographing birds about to take flight, just taking flight or just ending flight, russian bear.

The legs look amazingly long in the first shot
Birdgirl, i believe stilts have the longest legs in relation to body size of any bird in the world, any one confirm this?
Lovely shots bear, I was a "bird keeper" at Territory Wildlife Park for some years, and we "kept" a pair of these, fond memeories of beautiful birds!
