Yesterday I was driving around in the rain, which was meant to be a few showers in the morning but turned to solid downpours by the arvo, looking for birds...and wondering to myself what do birds do in the rain??
There was not a bird in sight all around town and on the way home I doggedly turned down a side road next to a creek and on my favourite tree were the only birds that love to be wet!!!! So I drove further along to turn around and started doing some landscape shots....dodging the massive raindrops ..... then I turned around after I finished to get back in the car and there sitting ion the powerlines above me ...staring at me all the time.... were at least 8 bar shouldered doves! never before have i seen one out in the open on a power line .... let alone this many sitting out in the rain
I had a very long lens on so I couldnt catch them all in the frame but , these terrible shots against the white sky but I just had to take them to prove I saw the event!!
I carried on up the road to capture the water birds..... determined to get a shot under the terrible conditions .... still haven't edited them yet but it cost me a slip over in a very muddy puddle so they had better be worth it
That's amazing. I have lost count of the times these weird things happen. Great shots.
Look how evenly spaced they are too, each in their own zone! That's amazing to me. Fantastic shots birdie, especially against such a rainy day sky. How wonderful that they stayed there for you to get some shots too. Knowing my luck I would have slipped over and scared them away at the same time, lol. Hope you're o.k., oh and you weren't holding your gear when you fell!

Nice looking dove shots with the rain drops - good reward for your photographic persistence despite the precipitation
