Barker Wetlands in Spring

Barker Wetlands is startingto fire with plenty of water and some of the Spring/Summer species turning up.

These are from a couple of weeks ago that I have just got around to having a look at.

Wood Sandpiper and Common Greenshank were the start of the shorebirds but there were also Red-capped Plover and Sharp-tailed Sandpiper.

Whiskered Tern, White-necked Heron and a couple of nesting Kites as well. No photos of the Kites as I didn't want to get too close.

Great one of the white-necked heron. They've still managed to elude me...

There would be three new specieces for me here. Must get down that way soon although looking at the weather forcast for SA 38° C, I might hang-off a while. Does the Glue-pot supply air-conditioned bird hides? (where's the emoticons gone??).

Very nice photos (as always) Rick - tern shot is fantastic, seems to be looking at its own reflection. Clever trick #3 is doing with the water in mid air above its back.
