You will remember I have had one Bassian Thrush in my backyard for a few years, then this summer I took some photos of a juvenile. Tonight I saw three of them foraging together, you can imagine how happy that makes me, as they are becoming quite rare. I just had the camera with me, so here are some photos.
Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between male and female? One of the birds at my place is darker than the others, would that be the female?
Veeeeeeeeerrry nice, Araminta. It's just so exciting (I think it is, anyway) when this happens. What a buzz! I've checked Morcombe & Pizzey & there doesn't seem to be any way of differentiating between males & females or even adults & juveniles.
Great bird to have in your backyard. Great pics of these birds.
