I'll second that Besty, although....  I've been bitten by a Boobook & stabbed with a talon by a Boobook and a Magpie.  And although I don't have the bite pressure test of a Cocky to compare, I'm going to say the talon stabbings were more painful surprise.  I've now been shown the correct way to handle birds by a trained expert yes

Beautiful shots.  Love the intent look in that Wedgies eyes.

HI Ruby i think either one would take your finger off .. She was just leaving her nest ,its on the property i work on ,the eggs havnt hatched yet . I have found a clear view of it that i can get to without desterbing her so hopefully i might get some good shots over the next couple of months ,, ill have to get my sons 600mm lens though ...cheers

I love those photos heartheartThe Eagle is simply magesticcool

Some years ago we took some overseas visitors to Healesville Sanctuary. I stuck my finger through the mesh fence to say hello to a Cocky, it bit a large chunk of my finger. There was some blood , and boy did it hurtcrying, but I wasn't going to let anyone know that I got bitten. For the rest of the day I kept my hand wrapped in a hanky in my pocket.

Excellent shots, Besty. I would not want them to bite by finger either.

Looking forward to the young Wedgie shots.
