On Sunday I had a walk part way down the Lyrebird Gully track in Berowa Valley north of Sydney. Despite the promising names of Lyrebird Track, Lyrebird Clearing, Lyrebird Waterfall and Lyrebird Caves, there were no Lyrebirds for me. However plenty of other birds to enjoy including ...
Olive Backed Oriole
Male Golden Whistler
Female Golden Whistler
Satin FlyCatcher, witha few droplets of water on him from a quick dip in the creek
Cockatoo slowly eating berries from a bush. He was taking his time on each berry getting just the part he wanted - Im not sure if it was flesh or the kernel that he wanted.
Nice selection of birds WD. That would have been three new species for me.
Samford Valley Qld.
Great shots WD but it is a Leaden FC.
Thanks Reflex !
Thanks BabyBirdWatcher - I put the FC on the Identification forum, it seems very difficult to distinguish the two species.
Lovely photos! It sounds like it was a great walk
Perhaps the spelling on the signs should be changed to Liarbird in that particular area WD - you'd think one would appear somewhere for you with all those areas named after one wouldn't you, inconsiderate birdy. Jokes aside, doesn't look as though you went without some lovely feathered friends of a different species though, you have some spectacular shots there. Particulary loving the Olive-backed Oriole with all those markings and colourations caught beautifully. All fabulous, I would have been pretty happy after that walk anyway.
West Coast Tasmania
Thanks Elsie and AnnieJ - good walk and a few good photos, great day.
I laughed about those "liar"birds AnnieJ - you are right, very misleading
