Beach Stone curlew

What an amazing looking bird this is. I am afraid I can't claim the shot as my friend took it with her Nikon but it was such a great shot I thought it deserved a posting in case anyone would like to see one.

Joanne these were taken at the northern end of Woodgate Beach near Bundaberg. Tassie... can't take the credit for the shot as it was taken by my friend who came home to show me and we all went rushing back there to see if it was around later in the day but to no avail. Fortunately the nesting Plovers were not going anywhere. I would have loved to see the Curlew in the flesh myself as it looks like a striking bird and I must ask Jane what noise if any it made. For non birding people my friends got into it really quickly once they got the bug :')

Sometimes it only takes one encounter or one photo to get the"BUG" ,and what a way to start great shot of a bird we don't get to see very often.
