Magpie

This Helmeted Guinea Fowl was at a chocalate factory in Margret River

Enjoy!

I think that dove is a spotted dove, NathanY - unless it's called a laughing turtle dove in WA. And it comes from India, Ceylon & generally southern Asia. I've been delighted they haven't become established at my place as they will likely interfere with colonisation by peaceful doves which are indigenous to my area but left when their habitat was destroyed many years ago.

oh,yeah,it is a spotted dove,we have both here, which can get a bit frustrating

and i didnt mean birds native to WA,just the ones found here

Hi Nathan and Woko
I didn't realise that the spotted and laughing turtle-doves were introduced, Simpson & Day doesn't mention this although now I look at Slater's field guide, it does. How disappointing, I rather like them.

Perhaps we should admire them from afar, Meave.

I did enjoy admiring them up close, Woko, but I guess you're right - it just won't be the same now I know they're not natives. Ah well, life is full of little disappointments.
