Two weeks ago I went to Casuarina Coastal Reserve in Darwin. It was low tide and dozens of Black Kites could be seen sitting on the sand. When I came too close the whole flock started circling very close above me, which was scary, but great for taking photos.

What great shots, never seen them sitting on the beach like that, in groups or individually. We used to live in Alawa, quite close to Casuarina. Love the pics.

Nice shots and interesting to hear so many there. I've seen just the one above a reserve near Werribee, Vic. There must be lots more food for them up there.

Whoa!!! What a sight. I think it is amazing when a bird of prey looks down at you. I've had WBSEs and whistling kites do it to me
